The B-Tech (Honours) Degree in Food Science and Technology was launched at Masvingo Polytechnic in 2005. This was a result of a Presidential directive through the proclamation of the ten point plan to turn around the economy through import substitution. The programme is run in collaboration with Department of Applied Biology and Biochemistry, Faculty of Applied Sciences at The National University of Science and Technology.
The first group of 18 students was recruited in April 2005 and 15 of these graduated in November 2009 at the National University of Science and Technology. The programme prepares graduates for employment in the food industry. The programme is currently being run on a block release basis to carter for those students who are already working in different companies nationwide and abroad.

Our Aim
The aim of the Department is to produce a product who is able to make significant contributions to the accounting field in particular to the established corporations and upstart businesses. Currently the Department offers courses to both part-time and full time students. Only Higher National Diploma (HND) has a course mode of part-time.
Prospective students submit the application letters and certified copies of original certificates to the Head of Department before interviews.
Having completed the course graduates can join the industry as accounts clerks, financial accountants, management accountants, tax officers and can also be employed as high school teachers.

The department is part of engineering division and is designed to produce qualified, competent, effective and efficient technical personnel to meet the demand of the industry and commerce, as well as the informal sector through manpower development
This is the direct intake by the college through an attitude test and interview. The institutional training programs is geared to effectively and systematically impact both cycle motor psychomotor and cognitive skills to trainees. 1st years spent at college for theory and practical lessons, second year is for on job training and the 3rd year is for national certificate and trade test and examinations.
Students spent 2 years of intensive training at college on the pretext that the will be practicing already in industry -on completion they will write exams for national certificates - They can also be trade tested for a class of their choice
These are send to college by the industrial and trade test division college training is mandatory of all Apprentice and is carried on full time basses for one year Apprentice are recruited by industries and the industrial training department of Ministry of High Tertiary Education.
Duration is 12 months
This is intended for persons who want to start micro enterprises repair workshops.
The entry qualification for this is maturity and ability to write.

The aim of the course is to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills in carrying out minor repairs on the motor vehicle.
The course is basically intended for car owners, garage operators, drivers, sales personnel etc.
The course is intended to upgrade skills in practicing artisans. This will enable them to work on modern vehicles with sophisticated technology.
The course comprises of fuel injection, electronic ignition, sensors and vehicle diagnostics
The admission into the department is in line with the requirements prescribed by the Ministry of Higher Education Examination Board (HEXCO).
